Vanessa Newell  |  Principal

It is with great sadness that we share the news that we have lost our dear friend and business partner, Vanessa Newell.  Vanessa passed away on November 8, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Vanessa joined Edge in September, 2012 as a Partner after almost ten years in the search industry.  She was an invaluable member of our company and contributed to the success of our business in numerous ways. She was sincere, earnest, and loyal, bringing passion, integrity, energy and commitment to everything she did.  Vanessa was bright, logical and always willing to share her ideas and information.

Vanessa was a wonderful friend and an amazing partner and colleague - we miss her greatly.

Alana began her career in the recruitment industry in 2006, where she was a top performer at a GTA based recruiting company.  She has demonstrated a high level of accountability, professionalism and a strong commitment to client service, while consistently delivering superior results to her clients and candidates.  She has successfully differentiated herself in the marketplace and lives by a credo of trust and integrity - core values that guide her both personally and professionally.  

Alana founded edge search partners inc. in 2012, with her partner Daphne, to bring a new dynamic to the search landscape.  Alana’s goal is to build a search firm that focuses on partnering with clients to help them achieve their goals and objectives, while providing candidates with the personal attention they deserve. Alana listens to the needs of her clients and candidates, ensuring search objectives are clearly defined and results are aligned with expectations.​

Daphne Fernandes  |  Principal

Daphne began her career in the recruitment industry in 1996 at one of the big four accounting firms in Toronto. Her tenure at the accounting firm provided her with a solid understanding and respect for the extensive training involved in becoming a CA. In 2000 Daphne joined a boutique search firm specializing in the placement of finance and accounting professionals. This allowed her to capitalize on her ability to develop professional long-term relationships based on trust and integrity with candidates and clients

Her enthusiasm for the industry, sound knowledge of the technical aspects of Finance and Accounting, and exceptional customer service allow her to understand and match the needs of both clients and candidates and create long term successful results.

Daphne launched edge search partners inc. with Alana in 2012. She aspires "to have a search firm that stands out from the crowd, one that believes in fostering long term relationships with their clients and candidates, along with offering a personal touch and possessing strong business sense and solid market knowledge".
